His Citation Reads:
For heroism in connection with operations against an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Corporal Jacob distinguished himself while serving with Battery C, 6th Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division. On 1 April 1970, Fire Support Base Hardtimes came under two enemy mortar attacks. During both attacks, Corporal Jacob exposed himself to the hostile fire in attempts to locate enemy positions. Even after being wounded, Corporal Jacob made repeated efforts in support of the friendly forces. Corporal Jacob's personal bravery, outstanding performance, and exemplary devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
